that is the lowest since the day president obama took office. that gives the president a chance to argue today that he has been slowly but steadily rebuilding on the economy. mitt romney, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to say the president hasn't been doing it enough, hasn't been doing it well enough and he could do it better. but this is a surprising number. the reason we have the sudden drop, we expected it to particular up a point. the reason it went down is because the july and august numbers have been revised upward pretty dramatically. we're talking about more than 80,000 jobs combined. it's not a great jobs number in terms of the overall economy, but it's surprising. and the trend is that it is heading in a positive direction. right now mitt romney is behind in eight of the battleground states. he did really well in that debate the other night, but this is going to take that over in terms of messaging and in terms of just sentiment, in terms of those people who are undecided in those states that are now already having early ballotin
